"Five for Ten" is designed to
help you, the horse owner, and to help us provide you the highest
quality treatment to your animal in a timely manner. You give us 5 and
we will give you 10.
Below is a list of 5 things that
you, the horse owner, can do prior to our arrival to help make your
experience positive.
- Have horse area clean of all
manure and all clutter.
- Have horses feet picked free of manure prior to farrier
arriving.
- Do not give your horse a bath before farrier arrives. Nothing
worse than having to lean up against a wet horse.
- Make sure horse stands well or that you have extra hands around
for horses that are difficult. If the need for a vet to meet on
site, this must be coordinated prior to our arrival.
- Have horse ready to go. Have him tied or in cross ties when we
arrive. (Don't have them running in the pasture.)
With your
cooperation, we will be able to administer treatment to your horse to
meet all of your needs as well. Below is a list of things that you can
expect from us. We will
- Make and keep all appointments.
- Arrive in a professional manner which will include being dressed
professionally with good hygiene, refrain from using foul language,
and will use manners in all contact with you.
- Will communicate what we are doing to your horse and explain it
as we work.
- We will follow your request or the veterinarian's directions.
- Will conduct procedures and farrier techniques in a professional
manner.
- Will shoe horses on an individual case basis only. No two horses
are the same.
- Balance a foot by accurately trimming and dressing the horse's
foot.
- Shoeing on a regular time frame. Typical shoeing should last
approximately one hour. Specialty shoeing or show horse shoeing may
take longer.
- Evaluating the horse as a whole in its environment. This may
include its conformation, gait, temperament, use, condition,
nutrition, and management.
- Making and applying therapeutic horseshoes as needed and
requested.
Finally, if we can
not meet your needs, we will refer you to a different specialist that
will help both you and your horse.
